Trump Revokes Chris Krebs’ Security Clearance, Orders Review of CISA’s

Former CISA Director Chris Krebs has had his active security clearance revoked following a presidential memorandum signed by Donald Trump. The directive also mandates an immediate review of the cybersecurity agency’s activities during Krebs’ leadership.

The memorandum instructs federal agencies to terminate Krebs’ clearances and temporarily suspend clearances for individuals linked to organizations associated with him, such as cybersecurity firm SentinelOne, pending a national interest assessment.

Krebs, who headed CISA from its inception in 2018 until his dismissal by Trump in November 2020, gained attention for publicly affirming the integrity of the 2020 presidential election, describing it as "the most secure in American history."

Following his departure from government, Krebs co-founded the Krebs Stamos Group, which was eventually acquired by SentinelOne. He now serves as Chief Intelligence and Public Policy Officer and President of PinnacleOne, SentinelOne’s strategic advisory arm.

The presidential memo further calls for an in-depth review of CISA’s operations over the past six years, including investigations into potential breaches of federal employee conduct rules or unauthorized disclosures of classified information during Krebs' tenure.

The White House also accused Krebs of actions that allegedly conflicted with the administration’s stances on free speech and government neutrality.

Reacting on social media late Wednesday, Krebs reposted a message from November 2020 stating: "Honored to serve. We did it right. Defend Today, Secure Tomorrow. #Protect2020."

SentinelOne responded Thursday with a statement affirming its cooperation with any clearance reviews. The company clarified that fewer than 10 employees might be affected and stressed that it anticipates no significant impact on its operations.
