An Agreement Is Signed By Huawei And The Kenyan National Computer And Cybercrime Coordination committee.

The National Computer And Cybercrime Coordination committee And Huawei Technologies Kenya Signed A Memorandum Of Understanding Thursday With The Goal Of Establishing A Framework For Cooperation To Enhance Kenya's Cyberspace, Including Efforts To Prevent Cybercrime And Other Cybersecurity Issues.

The State Department's principal Secretary for internal security and National Administration, Raymond Omollo, spoke at the signing ceremony and said that Huawei's position as a Worldwide leader provides them with important knowledge and experience to improve their ability to fight cyber threats.

Thier continuous assistance, which includes frequent capacity building, policy creation and best practice sharing, has been crucial. This Memorandum Of Understanding will strengthen our collaboration, especially in the field of emerging technologies , and build on our current achievements, he stated..

" Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility and I am pleased that we are finally formalizing this partnership with Huawei." According to Omollo, cybersecurity is still a major problem in this new digital age. He said that their are serious risks associated with disruptions to digital infrastructure and services, not only to specific industries like finance and telecommunications but also  to vital sectors like power, transportation, and healthcare.

According to Omollo, there have already been cases of serious service interruptions in Kenya, such as those affecting the Government's E-citizen platform, the electrical support, and Airport systems. Since it's founding, Huawei Technologies Kenya has worked closely with the National Computer and Cybercrime Coordination committee, according to Steven Zhang, deputy CEO of the Company.

" Huawei believes strongly in partnership and collaboration, whether with Government, private sector or non Governmental organizations. We believe that only if we work together can we help build capacity, strengthen resilience, and protect digital infrastructure,"  he said.
