Police Advice Students To Avoid Online Fraud By NAN.
The Police Special Fraud Unit's (PSFU) Commissioner Of Police (CP), Mr Godwin Omodeinde, Has Advised Ogun Students To Avoid Engaging In Any Activities Linked To Cybercrime.

In a statement released on Monday in Lagos, PSFU spokesperson SP. Eyitayo Johnson said Omodeinde made the plea during a meeting with the heads of important student organizations from Ogun State. Leaders from the Association of Southern Nigerian Students (ASONIS), the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), and the Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade (GAPOSA) student union Government are among the audience members.
The purpose of the student union officials' visit was to have a conversation with the unit after 14 individuals, aged 18 to 28, were arrested on January 15 in Saapade, Ogun State. Eight students from Gateway Polytechnic in Ogun State were among the detained individuals, who were thought to be part of an online fraud gang that operated in Lagos and Ogun States. " Others are two other individuals of unknown status who claimed to be a cobbler and an artist, respectively, and four members of the National Youth Service Corps, " Johnson stated.
Omodeinde says he is urging the kids to avoid online fraud because it is damaging Nigeria's reputation and making it harder for the country to get off the Financial Action Task Force's ( FATF ) grey list. According to Omodeinde, Nigeria's inclusion on the FATF grey list has the following effects: less foreign investment, more transaction costs, trouble doing business with other Nations, and more regulatory attention. He said, " the CP listed other implications, such as loss of Government revenue, Financial market undermining, decreased cross-border transactions, and loss of correspondent Banking relationships, among others."
According to the picture creator, the PSFU chief emphasized the necessity of a strong and ongoing collaboration between NANS members and the Nigeria police. He claimed that in order to safeguard the interests and welfare of it's members, the CP urged Union leaders to uphold their mandate without any concessions. The CP urged the Union, according to the spokeswoman, to make sure that problematic actors in their ranks were turned over to the police rather than protected.
