Dutch food company Ahold Delhaize reported that hackers stole data from their systems in a cyberattack that took place in early November 2024. This incident impacted Giant Food pharmacies and Hannaford supermarkets, causing issues with Hannaford's online shopping site, although Ahold Delhaize stores remained operational.

Websites for other Ahold Delhaize brands in the USA, like Food Lion, Giant Food, The Giant Company, and Stop & Shop, displayed a notice explaining the cybersecurity problem and system shutdowns. Thankfully, after controlling the attack, all store and online services returned to normal, as stated on April 17.

The company mentioned that hackers likely took some files from their internal systems. They are working hard to identify what information was compromised and will notify affected individuals as required by law. Law enforcement has been informed and is receiving updates.

On the same day Ahold Delhaize announced the breach, the INC Ransom ransomware group listed them on their dark web site. This group claims they took 6 terabytes of data. They have shown screenshots of documents and copies of identification papers as evidence of the breach, and they threaten to release this information soon.
